My daughter was born with a condition called down syndrome and the doctors said that she wouldn’t’ have a normal life if she survives death. I went from one hospital to the other but the outcome was the same and with sorrows I watched as she became more and more sick.
She didn’t have any of the senses. When she was the age of three, I come to Vincentian Prayer House for a retreat with Fr. Joshy VC and begged the Lord to be merciful to my little one. On the last day of the retreat, I told Jesus during adoration that I was waiting for a miracle from Him. I cried out as Jesus was going round the auditorium and wished He would heal her. Suddenly Fr. Joshy said about a child who was being healed through the Eucharist and my whole body shook. I have never experienced anything like that and there and then I started to thank Jesus and believed with all my heart that my child was healed.
On going home, Jesus reminded me about the miracle I asked and there she was, counting 1,2,3,……. The child who could not speak was counting numbers. What can I say; I glorify my God with my whole being for He did it for me. My daughter will be going to school next year and now she can play, jump, talk and so on. “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?” (1 Chronicles 17:16)
